On Saturday 9 November the Club travelled to Harpenden to play the first of our three indoor matches to be played over the winter period. We were made most welcome by a very hospitable Harpenden club and thoroughly enjoyed the match and the refreshments afterwards.

We were pleased to welcome two new players who have recently joined us and both Nigel Woor and Chris Valle will obviously bring great ability and experience to our Club. Playing with Ron Currell and our new Men’s Captain Les Page; they dominated the second half of the game to run out clear winners by 19 shots to 7.

Despite racing into a 9-0 lead, our team of Sue Tye, Chris Moore, Ian Whitcombe, and Ian Kilford were gradually pegged back by a dogged Harpenden team but thanks to a 2 on the last end, finally won by 16 shots to 15!

Our third victory was a much more comfortable game as the team of Ann Currell, Len Tye / Royce Venting, Kevin Rylett, and Barry Smith were always in control and eventually won by 21 shots to 10. It was really good to see Royce back playing again after his recent hospital stay.

The last match saw Norman Muller playing his final match for the club and as the Match Captain, we hoped for a winning finale for him. Unfortunately, a strong Harpenden team had other ideas and Norman, with Bette Philpott, Jenny Hart and Eddie Goodhall were defeated by 23 shots to 12.

Overall we won by 68 shots to 55 so congratulations to everybody and we now look forward to our next match at Riverain on Sunday 2 February 2020.
