ANGLESEY  ABBEY (Cambridgeshire)

We have arranged a visit to Anglesey Abbey, which has one of the finest snowdrops collection in the Country; there are over three hundred varieties, including twenty varieties that have been discovered in the Abbey’s grounds.  There is a leaflet/guide in the Visitor Centre which contains suggested routes and the best places to see the snowdrops.

Within the grounds, there is the Jacobean-style house which is open to visitors, a working watermill, the gardens to wander through, a restaurant, plant center and gift shop.

The coach will pick us up in front of St Mary’s School on the London Road (opposite the Steamer pub) at 9.00am and collect us from Anglesey Abbey at 3.30pm.  We suggest you park in the Sports and Social Club’s car park in Ottway Walk.

Anglesey Abbey is part of The National Trust, so those of you who are members, the cost of the trip will be £18.00; for those of you who are not a NT member, the cost will be £33.00.

Please make your cheque payable to ‘Welwyn and District Bowls’ Club’ and put it in Moira McKeown’s pigeonhole by Monday, 20th January as we’ll need final numbers by this date.  Alternatively, you can make a BACS payment direct into the Club’s Bank account (sort code 09-01-51 account number 57609308 reference Anglesey Abbey) but please let Moira know that you’ve done this.

If you’d like to join us, please add your name to the list on the noticeboard in the Clubhouse or contact Moira on 01438 820133 or
